A man and woman were arrested after being chased by police through the streets of Sheffield.
Officers from the Sheffield East Response Team apprehended the duo following what they described as a “short foot pursuit.”
Following their capture yesterday evening they were taken away for questioning on suspicion of being involved in a robbery outside the Park Hill Flats on Sunday evening.
Police have not yet confirmed whether the arrests relate to an incident in which a 43-year-old man was slashed on the head and robbed.
On Monday the force said the victim was attacked by “persons unknown” in the South Street Park, close to the Park Hill flats, on Sunday at about 11.20pm.
In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “He suffered slash injuries to his head and was taken to hospital to receive treatment.
“The victim’s injuries were not serious and he was sent home from hospital after treatment.
“A quantity of cash was taken during the incident.”
This latest incident comes after a spate of five fatal stabbings in as many months in the city this year.
In the most recent killing, 21-year-old Kavan Brissett lost his life several days after being stabbed in an alleyway off Langsett Walk, Upperthorpe, on Tuesday, August 14, just before 6.45pm.
Police have arrested an 18-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder.
Three boys, two aged 17 and one aged 16, were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to rob.
All have been released on bail as detectives continue to investigate.
