Man arrested on suspicion of Sheffield New Year’s Eve murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering Zabair Hussain in Sheffield on New Year’s Eve.

The 28-year-old man remains in police custody and will be interviewed in connection with the death of Mr Hussain, of Staniforth Road, Darnall, Sheffield.

Mr Hussain was found with multiple injuries to his head and body in Staniforth Road at around 11.20pm on New Year’s Eve and died a short time later.

A murder investigation is ongoing and detectives continue to explore a number of positive lines of enquiry to determine how and why Mr Hussain died.

Police continue to review CCTV footage and are appealing to anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
