Man attacked with axe in Swinton robbery

A man was attacked with an axe by masked men during a robbery at a house in Swinton.

Three men with their faces covered forced entry into a property in Sanderson Way, Swinton at around 2.30am on Monday February 22.

The men threatened a 29-year-old man, before assaulting him. He was hit on the side of the head by an axe, carried by one of the group.

The men then searched the 29-year-old’s property, taking cash and keys to his white transit van.

The 29-year-old suffered head injuries that required surgery at hospital. He remains in a stable condition in hospital.

The van has been recovered in the Wath-upon-Dearne area of Rotherham.

South Yorkshire Police are appealing for information.
