Man charged over theft of car and medical items in Sheffield

A man has been jailed for 16 weeks for two thefts - including £7,000 worth of medical equipment.

Ian Coakley, of Errington Avenue, Arbourthorne, admitting two thefts and asked for a further three to be taken into consideration.

Sheffield magistrates heard police were called on Christmas Day to a property in Whirlowdale Crescent, Whirlowdale, following reports that an Audi had been stolen from the driveway.

Officers arrested Coakley on Wednesday, January 7 and when his home was searched officers recovered over £7,000 worth of medical equipment as well as a number of other items.

The medical equipment was traced to a report of a theft from a vehicle in Wyatt Avenue, Carterknowle, Sheffield, on Saturday, January 3.
