Man dies after Sheffield assault

A man who was found unconscious with facial injuries in a Sheffield home earlier this month has died in hospital.

Graham Eddie, aged 42, was discovered by a friend on Saturday, March 12, in the morning, in his flat in Southcroft Walk, near Abbeydale Road.

He was unconscious and had facial injuries including swelling and cuts.

Mr Eddie was taken to hospital where he remained in a life-threatening condition until his death yesterday.

A forensic post mortem examination will be carried out.

Officers are reiterating their appeal for information about Graham’s movements in the days leading up to his death.

Detective Sergeant Anna Sedgwick investigating said: “A number of enquiries have been carried out already and we are grateful for the information we received as a result of our initial appeal.

“We need to understand how Graham came to have these injuries and I repeat my call for witnesses to come forward and speak to police.

“We know he was on Abbeydale Road at around 5.20pm on Friday evening (11 March) and that he was in the local supermarket close to his address. We need to hear from anyone who can help us piece together his movements that day and later into the evening.”

A 50-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries.
