Man dies after Sheffield crash

Police are appealing for witnesses, after a man died two days after he was involved in a collision on a Sheffield road.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “At around 8.55pm on Monday March 7, it is reported that a green Volvo V40 and a silver Ford Focus were involved in a collision on the A57 in the Hollow Meadows area of Sheffield.

“The driver of the Volvo, a 69-year-old man from Wales, was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where he died on Wednesday 9 March.

“The man’s family is receiving support from officers and have asked that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.

“The driver of the Ford, a 50-year-old man, suffered slight injuries.

“At the time of the collision, the Volvo was travelling towards Sheffield along the A57 and the Ford was travelling in the opposite direction, towards Manchester.

“Did you see the collision? Did you see either car before the collision?”
