In the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday will be looking to strengthen their grip on a play-off place when they take on MK Dons at Hillsborough. Wednesday are currently in sixth place, five points ahead of nearest rivals Cardiff City who take on Brentford at Griffin Park tonight and Carlos Carvalhal will be taking charge of the Owls for the 50th time, fresh from signing a new contract.

Meanwhile, Rotherham United, now nine points ahead of MK Dons in their incredible bid for Championship survival, host Huddersfield. The Millers are currently unbeaten in their last nine games.

In League One, Sheffield United travel to Shrewsbury Town with the pressure off as many have ruled them out of a place in the play-offs, though Nigel Adkins isn’t giving up. The Blades are in ninth positon, six points adrift of the top six, however there may be revenge in mind with the Shrews having inflicted on of United’s worst results of the campaign when they won 4-2 at Bramall Lane earlier this season.

Elsewhere, the battle at the bottom sees Chesterfield host Doncaster Rovers with Darren Ferguson’s side given hope of staying up at the weekend after defeating top of the table Wigan Athletic. The Spireites, meanwhile go into the game off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Sheffield United.

And Barnsley are still well in the hunt for a top six, place with interim manager Paul Heckingbottom describing tonight’s clash with Peterborough as being potentially their biggest challenge yet.
