LIFELONG runner Mike Filler will be one of the first people to cross the finishing line of the Olympic Stadium in London.
Mike, aged 63, of Eskdale Road, Hillsborough, has been chosen to join the five-mile National Lottery Olympic Park Run on March 31.
As a result of an online ballot, 5,000 runners will cross the Olympic Park to reach the Olympic Stadium in the first public event in advance of the Games in July and August.
Mike, a salesman, who failed to get tickets for the Games, said: “For this to happen to me, I just couldn’t believe it. I’m nobody special and now I’m going to be part of the Olympics.”
