More than 150 homes and businesses hit by power cut in South Yorkshire

The worst affected area is in Whiston, Rotherham, where the power was lost to 130 properties at 8.30am. It is due to be back on by 2.30pm.

30 premises were also plunged into darkness in Bolton-upon-Dearne in Barnsley at 2am and the electric should be back on by 2pm.

About 10 properties are also affected in Woodseats, Sheffield. The power went out just after 7am and it is due to be back on at 1pm.

A spokesperson for the Northern Powergrid said: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible."
