Mountain rescue team collecting for helipad appeal at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital

A mountain rescue team will be collecting money for a helipad at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital

Edale Mountain Rescue Team will be collecting money outside the John Lewis store in Barker’s Pool, on Saturday, for the appeal - called Saving Time, Saving Lives - launched by the Sheffield Hospitals Charity to raise funds to build a new helipad close to the hospital’s A&E department.

The appeal still needs around £425,000.

Martin Gorman, spokesman for the Edale Mountain Rescue Team said:”The helipad appeal aims to raise money for a new helipad at the Northern General which will allow air ambulances to transfer critically injured patients directly into the emergency department without the need for an extra journey by land ambulance.”
