A cat from Sheffield appears to have been on a adventure – after being found more than 80 miles away from the city.

Minnie, a five-year-old neutered female tabby, was recently found living in a shed on Liverpool Road, Neston, on The Wirral.

She was discovered by the mum of a Cats’ Protection volunteer, Jenny Trimble.

Minnie was taken to Littlecroft Vets in Little Sutton, Wirral, where Minnie was found to be suffering an injury potentially caused by a hot car engine.

Cats Protection staff also found Minnie has a microchip which had been implanted at Highfield Vets in Sheffield.

Now the search is on to find Minnie’s owner and discover more about she ended up so far away.

Jean Keogh, Cats’ Protection South Wirral branch co-ordinator, said: “The branch has been playing detective and found Minnie’s chip was implanted in Highfield, Sheffield.

“The Sheffield vet went to the owner’s address, but they weren’t in, so she left a note through the door. Sadly no-one has been in touch.

“The branch has rung all the people with the same surname as the owner in Neston, and we have put up posters, but no joy.

“Because the vet who examined her thinks Minnie’s injuries could have been caused by a hot car engine, we aren’t sure if her owners still live in Sheffield and she accidentally hitched a ride on a van, or if her owners now live in Wirral.

“She is a friendly cat and we would love to find her owner.”
