NEW APPOINTMENTS: Former Airbus boss joins Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility

The former Airbus head of research for the UK, Colin Sirett, has joined the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre as its chief executive officer.

In his early career, Colin left school at age 16 and chose an apprenticeship rather than completing A-Levels before going on to gain an engineering degree and MBA. He passed up on a potential move to Airbus’s headquarters in Toulouse and chose the AMRC because of it’s “great potential.”

Said Colin: “The AMRC can not only drive technological development, it can also translate it into production technology that can go straight onto the shop floor at companies around the world – and that, I believe, makes the AMRC quite unique.”
