New Barnsley gallery course to put students in the picture

Gaining the skills to run a moden art gallery is the objective of a new course being developed by a South Yorkshire college.

University Campus Barnsley has teamed up with Sheffield’s Cupola Art Gallery to create the two-year course in commercial gallery management.

It is designed to give artists and anyone interested in art and design the skills to curate and run a contemporary gallery.

Students will be based at UCB, but much of the coursework will be delivered within a gallery in Barnsley town centre.

Students will manage and run the gallery alongside their studies, while professionals will share their knowledge, insights and support to offer the most comprehensive understanding of the business side of the art world currently available.
