New firm to promote African communities in Sheffield

A company set up to create videos to promote community projects and cultural activities - focusing on Africa communities - has been set up in Sheffield.

Afri-Kin will be officially launched at Foodhall on Eyre Street in the city centre later this month.

Supported by the Prince’s Trust Enterprise Programme, Afri-Kin aims to focus on African communities in Sheffield and across the UK.

Ndrika Anyika, the creator of Afri-Kin, said: “I can’t wait to share my passion of videography with my city.

“I started the business because I had a strong desire to find out about community projects I could join in my local area, as well as learn more about businesses that cater to the black community.

“Afri-Kin is about promoting the African diaspora in the UK - their businesses and also the community organisations that connect our society as a whole. I want to shine a light on these businesses and organisations who undeniably add to the intricate economic and social tapestry of the UK.”

At the launch event at 6pm on May 21 West African food and drink from renowned London pop-up Chale Let’s Eat will be served.

There will be body painting and nail art stalls.
