New fund for repairs to listed places of worship across South Yorkshire

Congregations across South Yorkshire can apply for grants of up to £100,000 for urgent roof repairs to places of worship.

The new £15 million Listed Places of Worship: Roof Repair Fund will be used to address urgent roof repairs to ensure historic buildings are weathertight, safe and open for use.

Congregations, organisations and trusts responsible for looking after the buildings have until Friday, January 30, to apply for a Government-funded grant of between £10,000 and £100,000.

Limited funding can also be provided for structural investigations, specialist reports and bat surveys.

Culture Secretary Sajid Javid said: “This fund will help conserve and maintain these historic buildings so they can continue to play a vital role in the communities they serve, for years to come.”
