New pizza restaurant opening at Sheffield's Centertainment proves independents can go large
Offering diners tasty pizzas freshly prepared by chefs and cooked in an authentic Italian pizza oven just yards from their tables, Proove has been a favourite with food-lovers for the last three years.
The Neapolitan pizza and street food restaurant and bar, which was first launched in Broomhill, has opened its third branch this week at Centertainment near Meadowhall.
The venue is the first independent brand to open at the site, something sirector Deepak Jaiswal said he was very proud of at the opening on Tuesday.
He said: “Being able to open the first independent site in Centertainment is an honour for us and testament to the quality of the food and drink we serve here at Proove. We are really proud of the value that we offer too. it. We believe great quality food is for everyone and we’re exciting to bring that approach to Centertainment.”
Diners can choose between ten pizzas, and two calzones, along with a selection of street food and sweet treats.
Options include the verdure pizza, which is generously topped with courgette ribbons, roasted peppers, red onion, olives, tomatoes and cheese. There’s also the quattro stagioni with pepperoni ham, roasted mushrooms, olives, tomatoes and cheese.
The classic margherita is also available, as well as a marina, which has no cheese, for vegan guests. Vegan cheese can also be used on any of the pizzas, and the bases can be made gluten free.
For those who are not hungry enough for one of the hand-stretched 12 inch pizzas, there’s a selection of street food on offer including arancini, risotto balls coated with breadcrumbs and fried, and crocche, another fried dish made from mash potato, egg and breadcrumbs.
Keen to champion the city’s independent food community, the chefs use ingredients which are from local suppliers where possible. The restaurant seats 170.
