Driver seriously injured

A 34-YEAR-OLD man was seriously ill in the Northern General Hospital this week after a head-on crash in Sheffield on Sunday at 1.30am.

He was in a red Vauxhall Corsa on Harborough Avenue, Manor, when it collided with a blue Vauxhall Vectra taxi on the opposite side of the road.

The Corsa driver suffered a head injury and a broken pelvis and ribs.

The 46-year-old taxi driver was taken to hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

Police arrested a 30-year-old man driving a Ford Mondeo on suspicion of dangerous driving.

Peak District hall deal

THE sale of Losehill Hall environmental conference centre, near Castleton, by the Peak District National Park Authority to the Youth Hostel Association has been completed.

A £1.5m investment programme will now be carried out by the YHA, which will continue to host environmental study classes for young people and offer hostel accommodation.

Once the building work is completed by February, the association will close its hostel in Castleton, which will be sold.

Classics on The Moor

VEHICLES with starring roles on the screen will take centre stage at a motor show on The Moor in Sheffield city centre on Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Attractions at Classics On The Moor include a DeLorean (seen in Back To The Future), a Reliant Robin (Only Fools & Horses), various Austins (including one seen in Harry Potter), Capris (The Professionals) and Volkswagen Beetles (Herbie).
