Young carers from across Sheffield have been given a festive treat by the city’s two Football League clubs.
Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield United have donated 40 free tickets to Sheffield Young Carers Project for their Christmas home fixtures.
The offer saw 20 young carers and their families attend Wednesday’s home game against Charlton on Saturday, while a further 20 will attend United’s match against Scunthorpe at Bramall Lane on Boxing Day.
SYCP is the official charity of the year of the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce, which has helped the organisation secure the tickets from the football clubs.
Katie Borland, SYCP fundraising officer, said: “The young carers were so excited, they started texting back instantly when we told them about the tickets.”
