Nine golds in Sheffield's 25-medal NE championships haul

A superb weekend of achievement at Ponds Forge saw Sheffield Diving win 25 medals, including nine golds, in the North East Regional Championships.

Star performances came from Sephora Ford, Maisie Bond and Jack Burrows who all became double champions. Sephora won both the 1 metre and 3 metre springboard titles in the 14/15 years age group with Millie-Rose Hartley taking silver on 3 metre. In the 10/11 years age group, Maisie won gold in the 1 metre springboard and platform events where she was joined on the podium by Jenna Davison who picked up two silver medals.

In the boys, 10/11 Jack Burrows was the gold medallist in the platform and 1 metre springboard competitions with Oscar Wilcox taking silver on platform and bronze on springboard. In the boys 12/13 years 1 metre springboard event, Sheffield took a clean sweep of the medals. Declan Rogan was the champion with Noah Prasanto winning silver and Arthur Turner-Rowe bronze. Arthur won another bronze medal on platform.

Ross Haslam continued his excellent form in 2017 to win the men’s open 3 metre springboard event. Also on 3 metre, Bron Jenkinson produced a fine series of dives to win the boys 16+ years competition with Callum Bell taking the bronze medal.In the women’s open 3 metre synchro event, GB internationals Millie Fowler and Millie Haffety won the gold medal and then took silver and bronze medals respectively in the individual competition. Elliot Johnson was a double silver medallist in the boys 14/15 years 1 metre and 3 metre springboard events with Finlay Morris taking bronze on 1 metre.
