Olympic ceremony date for Harry

MUSIC scholar Harry Castle, from Eckington, will perform at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony in London after being invited to join the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain as a violinist.

The 14-year-old pupil at Mount St Mary’s College, Spinkhill, is joining 165 other members of the orchestra in a residential course and can also look forward to playing at The Barbican and The Proms.

He has two Grade 8 distinctions in piano and violin, a Grade 6 distinction in singing and has been a member of the National Children’s Orchestra.

He is the first Mount St Mary’s College pupil to be selected for the NYO.
