Over 100 South Yorkshire schools to begin WW1 project

More than 100 South Yorkshire primary schools will be starting work on a project next term to mark the centenary of the outbreak of World War One.

Fallen Fields has been researched and written by Barnsley-based Cornerstones Education and offered free to schools.

Many have downloaded its teaching and learning resources direct from the company’s website.

Cornerstones expects many teachers to lead lessons on the subject next term in the run up to Remembrance Day.

Fallen Fields is aimed at ten and 11-year olds and comes with presentations, song lyrics and maps as well as photographs, poems, paintings and website links.

It incorporates facts and figures and suggestions for activities such as creating timelines and newspaper articles.
