Owls Fans Column: Hull should be just as concerned about Sheffield Wednesday

It’s not just fatigue setting in we’ve come up against teams who are hitting their stride. Preston North End had won their previous three games before Saturday and added our scalp too to become one of the form teams in the Championship. They’re now only six points behind us.

There was also another frustrating draw against Queens Park Rangers that we can add to the other unsatisfying 0-0 draw we had against them in October.

Our third game in six days is our toughest test yet though.

Top of the table Hull City’s home form is even better than ours, but only marginally.

Hull have the opportunity to put clear daylight between themselves and Burnley if they beat us on Friday so have plenty of motivation.

With a game in hand and the odds in their favour this is going to be a big ask for The Owls.

Birmingham City are also breathing down our necks for sixth place.

If we lose against Hull and Birmingham beat QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday we’ll be on the same points. Fortunately our goal difference is keeping us in our lofty position.

The West Midlands team also have a game in hand on us so it’s essential that we throw everything at Hull even if we just come away with a point.

We haven’t beaten a team in the top five places this season but we have drawn four times against Hull, Burnley, Brighton and Hove Albion and Derby County so it’s not beyond the realms of possibility.

We’ve only lost once in the league in 2016 though so maybe Hull should be just as concerned about our form as we are of theirs.
