NEW Master Cutler Pam Liversidge and consort Doug Liversidge visited the Freeman College in Sheffield to have their hands cast in pewter.

For the first time in its 387-year history, the Sheffield-based Company of Master Cutlers has a woman at the helm and mechanical engineer Mrs Liversidge toured the centre, which was founded as a specialist college for young people with severe autistic spectrum conditions.

All new students cast their hand in pewter to recognise the start of their three-year course and help pewter tutor Danny Rowen with the hand casting of visiting VIPs.

The college has created over 200 jobs and its Sterling and Butcher Works sites in Arundel Street include the Fusion café and the new Ruskin arts and crafts shop.
