Peak District drivers clocked

A CLAMPDOWN on speeding motorists in Peak District villages netted seven motorists in a week.

Community Speed Watch volunteers monitored traffic in three checks on the A623 at Calver, the A6187 at Hathersage and Main Road, Bradwell.

All seven motorists were all found to be breaking the 30mph limit.

Letters will be sent to the motorists found breaking the limit, advising them of their speed and requesting they respect local speed limits.

Drivers are also being warned that if they caught breaking the speed limit again they may face a fine and points on their licence.

PCSO Anthony Boswell, of Hathersage Area SNT, said the exercise had been a success - and urged drivers to obey the speed limit

He said: “It is always pleasing when we carry out checks and find all motorists to be driving safely.

“However, it is clear it is still important to encourage drivers to have respect for the legal speed limits and consideration of the safety for local residents.”
