Balloon release tribute planned for Keigan O'Brien in Doncaster village
Grieving neighbours and friends are set to pay tribute to Keigan O’Brien tomorrow night by releasing balloons and lighting candles in his memory.
The two-year-old died in hospital yesterday from head injuries and two people, a man, 36 and woman, 32, are currently in custody over the death.
Now people are being asked to pay tribute to Keigan, who is understood to have died a few days after his second birthday, with the tribute which will take place in Bosworth Road, Adwick, tomorrow.
Villagers are asked to bring along blue balloons, candles and flowers for the tribute, which will take place from 6pm.
Detectives are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Keigan’s death and neighbours have spoken of their shock and sadness at yesterday’s events.
Police and paramedics were called to the house in Adwick yesterday morning after reports that Keigan had suffered a cardiac arrest.
He was taken to hospital but died later that afternoon.
A post mortem was carried out last night and earlier today, South Yorkshire Police revealed that he had died as result of head injuries.
The house has been guarded by police throughout the day and a number of floral tributes have been left at the scene by shocked neighbours.
Detective Chief Inspector James Axe, the Senior Investigating Officer, said: “Our investigation is continuing, with specialist officers carrying out a number of enquiries to establish the exact circumstances surrounding this absolutely tragic incident.”
“I would encourage anyone with concerns or information to please call us on 101, quoting incident number 293 of 8 January 2020.”
