No date for when fountains in Sheffield's Peace Gardens will be turned back on

As warm weather brought people out into the sunshine this week there was just one thing missing in Sheffield city centre.

The Peace Gardens fountains remain switched off and the city council said there was no date confirmed for them to return.

A spokesman said the date would be made public when it was known.

The fountains have been switched off since the beginning of the first Covid-19 lockdown in March 2020.

They have become synonymous with summer scenes in Sheffield over the years, with families heading their to cool off and let their children play in the water.
