South Yorkshire fires round-up

South Yorkshire firefighters were called out to several fires across the area overnight.

A discarded cigarette is believed to have been the cause of a fire behind a building in Barnsley Road, Scawsby in Doncaster, at 7.55pm last night.

Firefighters spent about 15 minutes at the scene.

A stable block went up in flames in Norton Common Road, Norton in Doncaster, at 10pm. Crews from Askern and Adwick stations battled for three hours to contain the fire.

No animals were inside and the cause is under investigation.

An unattended bonfire got out of control in a yard at a property in Midland Road, Royston in Barnsley, at 12.15am this morning. Firefighters spent 45 minutes putting the blaze out.

Arsonists set fire to a wheelie bin outside a home in Ravencar Road, Eckington, Sheffield, at 12.30am. Fire crews spent 15 minutes at the scene.

Arsonists also set fire to a wheelie bin in Wentworth View, Wombwell in Barnsley, at 12.40am. Crews were at the scene for 15 minutes.
