The thousands of runners taking part in Sheffield’s new-look half marathon tomorrow will have a cool start, weather forecasters say.

The temperature in Sheffield tomorrow morning at 9am is likely to be around eight to nine degrees, with the race starting at 9.30am.

Forecasters for Meteo Group say it will remain overcast for much of the day, with possible showers of light rain that may turn into heavy rain later.

The maximum temperature is 12 degrees and the minimum - which will be overnight Sunday into Monday - is around one or two degrees.

Around 7,500 people are expected to take part in the 13.1-mile race, which is being co-ordinated by Jane Tonlinson’s charity Run For All for the first time.

Last year’s event descended into chaos when it was officially cancelled as runners waited on the start line, because of a lack of water.
