Permission for houses at former Sheffield B&B

Plans to turn a former Sheffield bed and breakfast back into houses have been approved.

Etruria House, on Crookes Road between Broomhill and Crookes, was put up for sale last June by Jon and Mandy Kington, who had run the guest house since 1989 with Mandy’s parents, Terry and Brenda Horan.

Now proposals to change the Victorian building’s use to its former role as a family home have been granted permission by Sheffield Council.

Two separate houses are set to be created under the plans by applicant Robyn Postle.

The Grade II listed property was built in 1876 by John Armitage, who manufactured decorative fireclay products.

He extended two dwellings on the same site which date back to 1794.
