“I’m really looking forward to the challenge,” he said. “I’ve always wanted to be part of the club, even when I was a player at Belper Town. I’ve now been given the chance and I’m absolutely delighted to finally be here.

“Its been a very hectic but that’s how its going to be in the first few weeks.”

Colliver was in the dugout last weekend - mainly on a watching brief - as his new charges slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Carlton Town.

That was their sixth defeat in their last eight outings. They remain 17th in Division One South, 10 points clear of the drop zone.

The new boss revealed he had already got down to work on bringing in some new faces whilst indicating that he was scouring the local player scene.

“We’ve gone in for a few players that we’ve put seven days notice of approach on, so hopefully there’ll be some positive developments early next week,” Colliver added.

“I’m passionate about getting local lads together that the club means something to. And to make sure that it’s an environment they want to be in. We’ve also involved the U21s in training this week. It gives us the opportunity to take a look at them and also let them know that they have a chance of stepping up to the first team.”

The Sheffield boss did confirm two new arrivals with youngster Ross Goodwin joining from neighbours Staveley MW, along with fellow midfielder Alex Callery.

Goodwin is a tall, energetic midfielder while Callery brings experience from stints at Stocksbridge Park Steels, Worksop Town and Shaw Lane Aquaforce. He has recently had a couple of games for Ossett Albion.
