PICTURES: 'Cannabis factory hidden behind wardrobe' found during raids near Sheffield

A cannabis factory hidden behind a wardrobe was found during a series of police raids on suspected drug dens this morning.

Police said it was discovered when officers executed a search warrant at a house in Rotherham and had a street value of about £15, 000.

In total, officers carried out 16 raids, arrested 12 people, retrieved five knives, seized three cars and issued five tickets for parking offences.

Chief Inspector Rebecca Chapman, who was in charge of the operation, said: “Today is all about us showing our communities the work that we do, reassuring them that we are listening and that they can have confidence in us.

As well as early morning drugs raids, officers carried out traffic stops, conducted parking enforcement and met with residents to listen to their concerns about crime in the community.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson, who joined officers on the raids, said: "Along with our partners, we’re targeting those making other people’s lives a misery.
