Police called after suspected arson attack on Sheffield garage

Firefighters called police after they put out a blaze at a Sheffield garage because they suspected a deliberate fire.

Crews were called to Haygreen Lane in Birdwell at about 10.50pm last night where they found a property’s garage alight.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue crews put out the blaze, which involved burning refuse inside the garage, by 11.10pm.

But a spokesman for the service confirmed crews called police to report what they suspected was a deliberate arson attack.

No-one was thought to be hurt in the fire.
