Police hunt pick-up truck after broad daylight shooting in Sheffield

Police are hunting for a pick-up truck following a broad-daylight shooting on a busy Sheffield road.

Officers were called to Penistone Road around 2pm on January 20 amid reports that gunshots had been fired.

A 25-year-old man was admitted to hospital shortly after the incident with a gunshot wound to his leg. He has since been discharged.

Gavin Bennett, 34, of Maun Way Sheffield, charged with attempted murder, burglary and theft of motor vehicle in relation to the incident has been remanded in custody to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Thursday 25 February.

As enquiries continue, investigating officers are asking for any information on a blue pick-up truck seen in the area around the time of the incident.

A police spokesman saud: “Detectives are particularly keen to speak to those inside the car, who they believe could hold vital information that could assist with the ongoing investigation.

“Likewise, if you witnessed the incident and have not yet been in touch with officers, please call 101 quoting incident number 479 of 20 January 2016.”
