A WOMAN whose body was found at a beauty spot has been named by police.
Creswell Crags, near Worksop, was closed for a day after the discovery on Tuesday evening.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “The woman whose body was found in the river at Creswell Crags on Tuesday, August 28, has been formally identified as 54-year-old Sharon Burgin from Worksop.
“Her death is not being treated as suspicious and police are compiling a report for the local coroner.”
Visitors were turned away from the crags, a tourist destination normally popular with families during the school holidays, on Wednesday while investigations took place.
The crags are in a limestone gorge which also attracts archaeologists drawn by the landscape and ancient cave paintings.
Management at the Creswell Heritage Trust said they had been ‘extremely saddened’ by the incident.
