POLICE are investigating possible links between 11 armed robberies in six months in the Sheffield area. The latest attack saw two masked robbers armed with a machete and iron bar punch a shopper to the floor as they fled from the Co-op on Greengate Lane, High Green.

It followed raids on stores, newasgents and an off-licence in Longley, Norton Lees, Woodhouse Mill, Treeton, Beau-chief, Meersbrook and Grenoside. Weapons used include a gun, knives, metal bars and wooden bats. Although police do not think one gang was responsible, they suspect some attacks could be connected.
