A musical ensemble from Bents Green Special School performed this week at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
It was “a dream come true” for the group to join 3,000 young people at Music for Youth’s annual School Prom concerts, said music teacher Judith Ennis. “Nerve wracking and stressful, but oh, so worth it!”
The ensemble, Special Sounds, all of whom have special needs relating to autism or other communication difficulties, performed an arrangement of John
Barry’s score from Out of Africa on a variety of instruments.
Judith said that as well as technical skill, motivation and determination was needed to stand in front of an enormous audience.
