WORK started this week on a comprehensive refurbishment of toilets at Sheffield railway station as part of a pacakge of improvements.
Light and tap sensors are being introduced to help reduce waste of water and electricity and to provide a more hygienic facility.
East Midlands Trains, which runs the station, is also renovating the waiting rooms on platform 5 and platforms 6/8 and opening a new first class lounge on platform 5.
More CCTV cameras are being installed throughout the station and all cameras are being upgraded to produce digital and clearer images.
Improvements in Sheffield are part of a £10m project to improve stations across the EMT network. Passenger focus manager Guy Dangerfield said: “This is a good example of a train company listening to its passengers and investing in those areas that passengers have identified as needing an upgrade.”
