Robert’s new release, Carry Fire, came out last month on Warner Music Group-owned label Nonesuch Records.

Carry Fire is his 11th solo album and first full-length release since 2014’s acclaimed release, titled lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar.

He is once again accompanied on the new release by multi-instrumentalists The Sensational Space Shifters, who he has been touring with for two years.

They join him on the UK tour dates, including Sheffield City Hall next Wednesday, and Seth Lakeman has also been added to the line-up.

The songwriter and multi-instrumentalist appeared on three tracks on Carry Fire, playing both viola and fiddle.

Other notable guests on the album include Pretenders vocalist Chrissie Hynde and Albanian cellist Redi Hasa.

Robert said of his latest work: “It’s about intention, I respect and relish my past works but each time I feel the lure and incentive to create new work.

“I must mix old with new. Consequently, the whole impetus of the band has moved on its axis somewhat, the new sound and different space giving way to exciting and dramatic landscapes of mood, melody and instrumentation”.

n Sheffield’s own Human League have announced a date at the FlyDSA Arena on December 7 next year.

They will be joined at the venue’s more intimate Steel Hall by special guests, Midge Ure’s band Electronica.

Tickets for the show have already gone on sale, available online at, from 0114 256 56 56 or in person from the venue.
