People in Sheffield are being invited to seek out the spooky at a paranormal event due to be held at the 19th century building that is now home to the National Emergency Services Museum.
When it was built in 1898, the building was one of Yorkshire's first purpose-built combined fire, ambulance and police stations.
Located on West Bar, the building became a museum in 1980, after being vacated by the police in 1965, lying unused until a venue was needed to accommodate a collection of emergency services memorabilia.
Today, the museum attracts tens of thousands of visitors per year, and Simply Ghost Nights Ltd are now offering people a chance to visit the museum after-hours on August 4, and take part in a paranormal investigation at the historic site.
Rosey Dawson, of Simply Ghost Nights said: "There’s little doubt that public interest in all things spooky is at an all time high; never since Victorian times have so many people been involved in investigating the dark side."
"Now, you too have the opportunity of joining in with a professional ghost hunting and paranormal investigations company, that’s assuming you are brave enough of course, because the very successful and very friendly Simply Ghost Nights team will be hosting an investigation at The National Emergency Services Museum on the 4th August 2018 in Sheffield.
She added: "The most famous spirit residing at this amazing haunted place, is that of a former prisoner called Cain, on most ghost hunts Cain usually enjoys communicating with the living but he is known to have a more sinister side.
"On many occasions he has been known to throw the glass breaking it, during glass divination experiments on some ghost hunting nights. He is renowned for making his presence felt, especially to women and he makes it quite obvious he resents anyone daring to enter his cell.
"Incarnate voices have been heard in various areas of the location as well as ghostly black shadows on the top floor join us if you dare!
"Take part in seances and use Ouija boards, and attempt spirit communication using some of the latest ghost hunting equipment available."
The event begins at 9pm and ends at 2am. Tickets cost £39, and include refreshments.
