The Diamond Building and the AMRC Factory 2050 have been chosen for the 2016 RIBA Yorkshire Award by the Royal Institute of British Architects.

The Diamond, on Leavygreave Road, is a new building for the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sheffield and has an aluminium glass façade, complete with the diamonds that give the building its name.

The AMRC Factory 2050, on Sheffield Business Park, Europa View, is a steel-framed, circular glass building described by project leaders as ‘one of the most advanced factories in the world.’

The shortlisted buildings will be visited by a judging panel later this month, with the winners of a RIBA Yorkshire Award announced at a ceremony on April 21
in Leeds.

The panel will select one of the winners to receive the prestigious Building of the Year Award.

Regional winners will also be considered for a RIBA National Award.
