Sheffield Bupa Great Yorkshire Run charities to benefit

Charities are set to benefit from the annual Bupa Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield this weekend.

Thousands of participants have been sponsored to complete the race to raise cash for good causes.

Dronfield twins Jessica and Lucy Wing are running the race in memory of their best friend’s brother, George Green, who died at the age of 19 last year.

Money raised will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital where George underwent a heart transplant when he was younger.

Tracey Berrisford has been sponsored to complete the race to raise cash for Wisewood Junior Football Club, which hopes to buy two defibrillators following the death of a player’s parent at a football match.

Tim Parton, from Rotherham, will be running to raise money for Cockayne Syndrome charity Amy and Friends.

His late daughter Megan had the premature aging disorder, which leads to a shorter life expectancy.

A group of runners will be taking part in memory of late GP Mouli Rylatt, who died from breast cancer in December.

Money raised in her memory will go to Weston Park Cancer Hospital.
