Sheffield care home opens new specialist unit

A new 14-bed unit has been opened at a Sheffield care home in a £350,000 renovation project.

Loxley Court care home, Petre Street, Grimesthorpe, spent three months under renovation.

Specialising in nursing care, including dementia nursing, the 71-bed home was taken over at the end of last year by Orchard Care Homes.

In addition to the new unit, designed for those with behavioural challenges, new carpets and furniture have been fitted along with motion-sensor lighting and new visitor facilities.

Home manager Jane Bennett said: “We are delighted with the refreshed new home, we feel like it has given us a new burst of energy.

“We received some really positive feedback during the recent open day, particularly for the dementia-friendly spaces, which allow our residents to interact in a new way.

“We are seeing an increased demand for more specialist care, and our new unit, with dedicated and specialist-trained staff, is equipped with the very latest facilities and is now ready to welcome residents.”

Orchard Care Homes provides residential and specialist care in over 100 homes across the UK.
