Sheffield celebration out of this world for a third year

The Out Of This World festival returns to Sheffield city centre on Sunday, with a host of activities themed around sci-fi, magic and horror.

The event, organised by the council, is now in its third year, with attractions for 2016 including comic book characters, movie-themed cars, zombies, puppets, live music, fairground rides and a giant dinosaur.

For the first time, the Town Hall will be part of the festival, while in the Winter Garden and Peace Gardens there will be music and dancing. Rides will be set up in Barker’s Pool, Tudor Square and Fargate.

Coun Mary Lea, the council’s cabinet member for culture parks and leisure, said the turnout ran into the thousands last year, and that it was becoming ‘one of the most popular events of its kind in the UK’.

The festival takes place from 10.30am to 5.30pm, followed by an after-party in Leopold Square.
