Sheffield church to the rescue after schools hit seasonal snags

A community church came to the rescue after it heard two Sheffield schools had problems with their Christmas celebrations.

Pastor Chris Jeavons from Spa View Community Churchh in Hackenthorpe provided a Father Christmas for children at Birley Spa Primary.

And the church also provided a venue for a Christmas Fair and Santa’s Grotto being staged by St John Fisher RC Primary.

Headteacher Frank Barrett said: “The school is so grateful for the generosity of the church in helping us to go ahead with our Christmas celebrations, they have made many children very happy this Christmas.”

Pastor Chris recently moved into the area with his wife Sian and young daughter Grace to work in the community.
