Sheffield firm celebrates launch of new product in Asda

A Sheffield business is celebrating after supermarket giant Asda agreed to stock its latest product in 29 stores across the north of England and the Midlands.

Binghams’ Potted Pulled Pork sits alongside the firm’s successful and now established Potted Beef, Beef Spread and Beef and Tomato Spread, already stocked at Asda stores.

Binghams, which was founded in 1914, first started supplying around 30 Asda stores across Yorkshire in 2008 and now has products in almost 100 across the UK.

The business was founded by Charles Bingham, a popular meat dealer in Sheffield who also sold potted beef.

He built the first Binghams factory in Crookes, where production of his potted beef recipe grew – and where the business remains today.

Binghams is now owned by its former general manager, Peter Moon and his wife Stella, who returned the business back to private ownership from Northern Foods in 2007.

Mr Moon said: “We are just as proud of our new Potted Pulled Pork as we are of our first Potted Beef, which is still made to the original 1914 recipe.

“We have a fantastic relationship with Asda.”
