Sheffield firm donates £28k to children's hospice

A 300-mile bike ride, a charity ball, a curry night and bucket collections at sports grounds helped staff at Investec Wealth & Investment raise £28,000 for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.

The bike ride saw cyclists travelling between each of the cricket grounds used in the 2015 Ashes series.

The money will be used to refurbish four specially adapted bedrooms by the North Anston based hospice, which provides care and support to children and young adults with a shortened life expectancy.

Owen Wright, Investment Director at Investec Wealth & Investment said: “After almost a year of fundraising, it is great to be able to present the money to Bluebell Wood, a charity which does so much for children with life-limiting conditions and their families in South Yorkshire and the surrounding region.

“We would like to thank everyone who supported us and made this all possible.”

Rachael Dawes, Corporate Fundraiser at Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice, said: “We are really proud that Investec Wealth & Investment chose to support our charity.

“The money raised will make a huge difference to the lives of our patients and we are tremendously grateful.”

Bluebell Wood, which was set up in 1998, offers care and support to seriously ill children and their families away from a hospital environment.

It costs £4 million a year to run the hospice, with most money coming from donations, fundraising and the charities 10 shops.

Ten per cent of its funding comes from the Government.
