FOR the first time in more than 30 years, the summer fair of St Luke’s was switched away from the hospice at Whirlow.
More than 1,000 people went to the alternative location of St Mary’s Church and Conference Centre in Bramall Lane last Saturday.
“We are delighted that so many people supported us as we moved to a new location,” said the hospice’s Director of Fundraising and Communications, Una Moran.
“With work now starting on the new hospice in-patient unit, it was not practical to have the summer fair in our own gardens, but St Mary’s Church was an excellent alternative.
“It’s very close to the city centre and, thanks to Sheffield United, we also had excellent free car parking facilities.
“Luckily the rain stopped just in time for the fun to start and it was great to see so many people enjoying the afternoon and helping us with our fundraising.”
