Sheffield hospitals chief is rated one of the top NHS bosses

Sir Andrew Cash, chief executive of Sheffield's hospitals, has been named as one of the country's top ten NHS bosses in 2017 by the Health Service Journal.

The annual list recognises NHS Trust chief executives who excel in leadership, improving care and driving efficiency.

Bosses were judged by some of the NHS’ leading figures, including CQC chief inspector of hospitals Sir Mike Richards, NHS England medical director Sir Bruce Keogh and NHS Improvement director of nursing Ruth May.

Judging was based on three main criteria: the Trust’s performance; their contribution to the wider health economy and the personal example set by the chief executive's leadership style and mentoring.

Sir Andrew oversees the Northern General, Royal Hallamshire, Jessop maternity wing, Weston Park cancer hospital and Charles Clifford dental hospital which treats over two million patients a year.
