Sheffield hotels expose peculiar lost and found items

A suitcase full of outfits for a small dog, a trunk full of American breakfast cereals and an antique chair were just a few of the bizarre items left behind in Sheffield’s Travelodges last year.

The hotel chain has rummaged through its ‘lost property’ box to reveal some of the most interesting and common items left behind by guests in its 500 hotels across the country.

Some of the strange booty that has been found in rooms at Travelodge’s Sheffield Richmond, Central and Meadowhall hotels include:

n A trunk full of American breakfast cereals

n A suitcase full of outfits for a small dog

n An antique chair

n A factory-sized roll of bubble wrap

n A Nutribullet with a cold bag full of fruit and vegetables

n A pair of designer cufflinks

n A collection of paintings made by a child aged five for his grandmother

n An engagement ring

Across the UK some of the more unusual items left behind included an antiques dolls house, a prosthetic hand, a love letter written 40 years ago, a pug called Dancer and even a husband.

Travelodge spokesman Shakila Ahmed, said: “What is becoming evident after speaking to our customers is that the pace of life has become so fast and we are so eager to get from A to B that valuable possessions are easily being forgotten.”
