Sheffield man charged over firearms incident

Osai Irele-Domingo, 19, of Craddock Mews, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

He appeared at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday, charged with the offence, and was remanded into custody to appear at the city's crown court on August 26.The charge relates to an incident in the Norfolk Park area of Sheffield where it is reported that shots were fired in Samuel Close at about 6.40pm on Friday July 23.South Yorkshire Police’s campaign giving members of the public the opportunity to safely hand in firearms and knives ends today (August 1).The surrender has given people a chance to hand in their weapons, as police continue to tackle armed criminality and organised crime groups across the county to ensure South Yorkshire is a safe place to live.Superintendent Shaun Morley said: “We are committed to tackling criminality relating to firearms and organised crime groups, and South Yorkshire Police will continue to relentlessly pursue anyone found to be involved in this kind of activity.“The force has a number of specialist officers and resources dedicated to pursuing those involved in any kind of gun crime.
